MEDS-ALERT Home-Based Medical Technology System
Save Billions Annually & Prevent Thousands of Medical Accidents
MEDS-ALERT USA introduces a new, patented interactive system designed to read medication bar codes in a patient’s home – and to provide a secure, two-way communication system between provider and patient. Given the rising cost of medication errors – and the increased demands on providers’ and caregivers as the Baby Boom generation grows older – the MEDS-ALERT USA system is poised to provide dramatic cost savings as well as improved care and quality of life for the millions of people who require daily medical care.
MEDS-ALERT USA has developed a system of computer hardware and software for use in the patient’s home to:
-
Monitor patient adherence with prescribed medication regimens
-
Monitor the outcomes of medication therapy
-
Provide feedback to the health care professional, alerting them to potential medication-use problems
The MEDS-ALERT system takes the bar code technology that is emerging in the inpatient care setting and putting it into people’s home. Monitoring compliance with a medication regime is one of the hardest issues facing a patient – and a patient’s family – today. This system will help alleviate the economic burden of medication errors, as well as prevent thousands of medical accidents each year.
MEDS-ALERT USA holds the only patents for utilizing bar codes for identifying prescriptions and caregiver identity in the home. MEDS-ALERT USA Inc. has developed a proprietary system to enhance the proper at-home administration of medications. The College of Pharmacy at the University of Tennessee has joined with MEDS-ALERT USA to aid in the development and testing of the system.
